Oscars

Oh, enough about me, let's talk Oscars!

BEST PICTURE

THE AVIATOR
FINDING NEVERLAND
MILLION DOLLAR BABY
RAY
SIDEWAYS

Huh. I assume it's really a race with The Aviator and Sideways and will vomit if Million Dollar Baby gets to sneak in and take it. Bidocs tend to bore me and Finding Neverland was really good, but admittedly, it was more a movie that worked because of all of its parts, than as a whole.

ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE

Don Cheadle - HOTEL RWANDA
Johnny Depp - FINDING NEVERLAND
Leonardo DiCaprio - THE AVIATOR
Clint Eastwood - MILLION DOLLAR BABY
Jamie Foxx - RAY

Oh, I see now. It's a typo. You meant to have Paul up there for SIDEWAYS, not Eastwood for his crapassity. Grr. I am vexed, I am very, very vexed. Paul may well have to change his name to ROBBED, because he got completely ignored for American Splendor and now he's been completely ignored yet again.

Well, I will be escatic if Don wins, will die if Johnny wins, really want Leonardo to win (because honestly? he's got the best shot), but know it'll go to Smug McSmuggerson for his role in Smug.

Though I may be rooting a bit more for Don and Johnny, because they're always consistent with being amazing or the best thing a movie, whereas Leonardo is a bit more spotty.

ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE

Alan Alda - THE AVIATOR
Thomas Haden Church - SIDEWAYS
Jamie Foxx - COLLATERAL
Morgan Freeman - MILLION DOLLAR BABY
Clive Owen - CLOSER

Eh. Clive? Happy, although I'm still mad at him for King Arthur. Really happy if Morgan Freeman wins, because he kicks ass and that he doesn't have an Oscar? Dude, that's just wrong. I don't think Jamie's going to get it, consider he's more likely to get the Best Actor win, so he can be incredibly smug and annoying.

ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE

Annette Bening - BEING JULIA
Catalina Sandino Moreno - MARIA FULL OF GRACE
Imelda Staunton - VERA DRAKE
Hilary Swank - MILLION DOLLAR BABY
Kate Winslet - ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND

Dear God: Do not award Annette, for she is more smug that Mr. Smug himself. Hilary? Dude, I am not fond of her as an actress. Catalina? God, I'd be happy if she won, for that movie, just from clips of it, looks like she kicked ass. But Kate deserves to win. How can we live in a world where Halle Berry, Charlize Theron, AND Apple's Mother have Oscars and Kate has no love?

ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE

Cate Blanchett - THE AVIATOR
Laura Linney - KINSEY
Virginia Madsen - SIDEWAYS
Sophie Okonedo - HOTEL RWANDA
Natalie Portman - CLOSER

I adore Cate Blanchett. I'm pretty much happy if anyone wins this, although I kind of want Natalie not to win, because there's a bit of doooom with young actresses winning this award.

ANIMATED FEATURE FILM

THE INCREDIBLES
SHARK TALE
SHREK 2

Shark Tale looked like a nice vortex o' suck. Shrek 2 kinda blew. It was saved by Puss in Boots, but one awesome character does not equal Oscar-worthy. I want The Incredibles to win, for it was an awesome, awesome movie.

DIRECTING

THE AVIATOR
MILLION DOLLAR BABY
RAY
SIDEWAYS
VERA DRAKE

I believe Martin Scorcese will burst into tears if he loses. As will I if Eastwood wins.

VISUAL EFFECTS

HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN
I, ROBOT
SPIDER-MAN 2

Actually, I'm not rooting for anyone here, because all of these movies has some really spotty CGI work mixed in with good CGI work.

WRITING (ADAPTED SCREENPLAY)

BEFORE SUNSET
FINDING NEVERLAND
MILLION DOLLAR BABY
THE MOTORCYCLE DIARIES
SIDEWAYS

I'm surprised Before Sunset got a nom, but that's good. I root for no one here, but expect Sideways to most likely get this one.

WRITING (ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY)

THE AVIATOR
ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND
HOTEL RWANDA
THE INCREDIBLES
VERA DRAKE

I am joining many in rioting if Eternal Sushine of the Spotless Mind does not win.
