thanks for the meme-ories

Hysterical. I was looking back for something in one of my April posts, only to discover that I PRIVATED a totally public post. Heeee.

And because it's a meme and a quiz, I post it now, for your amusement.

*

The three things meme. If you would like to play, you can comment and I shall pick out three things from your interests and three icons (or your comments/keywords for your icons).

As raelala asked:

1. bad 80s movies

Rae asked me to pick some of my favorites, but HOW DO YOU PICK a star out of a zillion crappy, crappy movies? If it's made in the eighties, features "high school" characters played by near-thirty year olds, looks like it cost about thirty dollars to make, I will watch it. My definition of a bad '80s movie: It has tons of pastel outfits, horrible make up (purple and blue eyeshadow!), insipid plots, everyone speaks in flat accents no matter where the movie is actually set, and especially if it's a sequel to another movie and doesn't feature any of the original characters, save a few background characters. Oh, and you will always find a random actor/actress in the movie that has gone on to do Good Work and you are forced to stare at them in befuddled horror at the dreadful lines they have to say.

Think Grease 2, but often with less singing. The type of movies that the USA channel used to run all the time, especialy the late night kind that cut out all the bad words and replaced them with random hilarious words that made no sense.

2. drds

Diagnostic Repair Droids. ;-) DRDs are the living machines that Moya (of Farscape), a living ship known as a levaithan, used as basically her repair system/antibody system. DRDs did grunt work and John Crichton had befriended several of them and gave them endearing nicknames, such as One-Eye, DRD Pike, and 1812. 1812 had the most personality as it was independent of the rest of Moya's drds (as John had picked him up from another leviathan) and had been trained by John to play the 1812 Overture. DRDs are adorable, think of them like Roombas, only with WEAPONS (like lasers), can shoot you full of translator mircrobes, and they're a lot more spiffy.

3. the cutting edge

Toooooooooooooepick! One of the finest movies ever made about figure skating. I will not hear a single negative comment against this movie.

1.

Icon by ba4ever. I had the pleasure of seeing Wonderfalls on DVD and fell in love wth it. This is from one of the best AWESOME moments, where Jaye's brother, Aaron, who is aware that his sister believes that animal objects talk to her (and tell her to do things), is talking to Jaye's shrink about this, and he knocks over a pile of books off the desk and the books form the phrase cow talk - for you see, in a previous episode, Aaron had seen Jaye conversing with the family milk creamer, which was in the shape of a, you guessed it, cow. (THAT IS A LONG SENTENCE.) It's also great to use as an icon when you're just talking nonsene/meaningless stuff.

2.

Icon by grrliz and it's a quote from the last HP book (Harry Potter and the Monster in his Pants Chest). It's one of the moments that cracked me up (on purpose), a very funny moment, by Ron Weasley, I believe. It's so crazily polite about someone being dead and I like to think of asking a zombie that and then I laaaaaugh.

3.

Icon by strangepowers. Super Shakespeare was finally uploaded in honor of the Doctor Who episode featuring Shakespeare. I also used this icon when I finally freed my action Shakespeare from his packaging cage in honor of his birth and death anniversary. Action!Shakespeare shall survive! Thanks to a little help from Evil Harry Potter (and Evil Harry Potter FROM THE FUTURE).

What American accent do you have?
Created by Xavier on Memegen.net

New York City. You are most definitely from New York City. Not New Jersey, not Connecticut. If you are from Jersey then you can probably get into New York City in 10 minutes or less.

Take this quiz now - it's easy!
We're going to start with "cot" and "caught." When you say those words do they sound the same or different?

Heh. It takes me a little longer than 10 minutes to get into the heart of the city but I'll take it.
