double rainbow oh my god

I'm only slightly (well, perhaps moderately) jealous of those who are living it up at Comic Con.

Meanwhile I'm waiting for a pdf to finish rendering so I'm fucking around by posting to lj about waiting around for In Design to stop slowing down my swerve. There's a double rainbow in there, yo.

Should the planets align correctly, I will be going to Florida in November. Which means Disney and Harry Potter world because I'm that kind of tourist sometimes. Actually I haven't been a theme/amusement park in a long ass time and a week of Disney/Universal tourist-y goodness is exactly my idea of bliss.

I'm something of a casual Disneyologist on the side. At least I used to be until I got too busy and couldn't afford/get the time off to get down to Florida. (I've been to Disneyworld in the early 90s. I was not impressed, also the Space Mountain ride BROKE DOWN at the entry point so we were stuck and then had to take part of a social experiment test run so I saw it with all the lights on, which totally ruins the magic.)

Y'all before you don't respect me in the morning, I do like other kinds of traveling/tourist good times. But Disney! It imprinted upon me like a character in a terrible novel by a bad writer!

We met when I was six. D:

Sometimes I out-sarcasm myself.

Not sarcasm: I am proud of myself for not giving into temptation and picking up the Avatar: the Last Airbender art book because I am saving money like a fuckin' adult.

I really, really want the book however: bills. I'll hold off until the summer (and thus: the high cost of not dying from heat) ends.

Speaking of Avatar (oh ho, you noticed I'm a talented segue master?), you don't even want to know how giddy I got over the news about Legend of Korra.

Now I link to this spoilery interview by the creators, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko.

STEAMPUNK. TENSIONS IN A MULTI-CULTURAL CITY. KICKASS HEROINE.

YES. I will take it all and drink this milkshake.

I already like Korra and I've only seen her damn back so far. It's awesome that we'll be meeting her while she's already completed most of her training since she just has to finish learning Air from Tenzin, Aang's son.

OMG Tenzin mentoring the reincarnation of his dad. ;_; elrina753, whenever you're able to look at lj, doesn't that remind you of New Amsterdam a little bit?

As I linked the spoiler-y article, I'm gonna say this: duh of course Aang and Katara got married and had kids. WTF.

Hell, the fortuneteller told Katara as much in S1. Heh.

I was surprised (okay, only a little bit) that so many fans assumed that Aang/Katara was not a viable relationship. Yes, I jumped into the show way after its run due to the fuckery of the casting for the movie and it was through racebending that I got interested and watched the series. However, seeing the show as someone without spoilers or major expectations (other than fans really, really enjoyed the show), I was like, dude, of course that's the main pairing.

The "Aang is so young/is only 12!" argument is kind of weird since Katara's only 14. I doubt they immediately got engaged after defeating the Fire Nation, y'know? It was a kids show about kids and there were relatively age-appropriate romances for everyone (see Sokka/Suki and Zuko/Mai).

I don't even know how to properly address it, but for me, I just don't think it's genuine to try to argue real life reasoning into a fantasy show like Avatar with regards to romance. Yes, in the real world, most people do not marry the first person they crushed on or kissed. First love is often just that: first.

But in this show, the creators were like: Katara/Aang, yep that's our plan and hey, a kiss at the end of the series because that's how we envisioned it! So outcry that the creators are following up with a story set in the future that confirms their original setup is the creators being MEAN to another 'ship, a truer ship? Oh honey, no.

Also: fanfic. Go wild there. The show set up a different story. That's okay. Some of my friends are Harry/Hermione shippers. We managed not to maim each other while waiting for the series to finish even as I was Ron/Hermoine all the way. And at the end, I was right and they were and will always be wrong.

(If you think I might be joking in the above paragraph, congratulations, you are right.)

Hell watching Remus turn into a dickbag in book six of Harry Potter wasn't fun for me since my real ship is Remus/Sirius and I hated how he treated Tonks. But that's how the canon rolls.

Personally, I find it sad that Aang died so young (~mid-sixties) although the creators explain it's because Aang's ice bath ate up his lifespan. That's ~SCIENCE~ for you.

But you guys, you guys, you know what I'm looking forward to? KICKASS OLD LADY TOPH. OR REFERENCES TO SOKKA, MASTER OF THE SPACE SWORD. OR SUKI WARRIOR QUEEN OF THE WORLD. OR OLD ZUKO BEING GROUCHY.

OR WAIT. I'm excited about a new Avatar series because the first series IS SO FUCKING GOOD.

KORRA. KICK ASS HOT-HEADED AVATAR. FUCK YEAH.

In conclusion, this piece of fan art makes me excited for any interactions between Korra and Spirit Guide Aang.

YO DAWG YOU SHOULD TRY RIDIN SOME ANIMALS.
